I’ve been wracking my brains for some incredibly I’ve been wracking my brains for some incredibly insightful, wise, inspiring words to share for #internationalwomensday and I’ve been drawing a blank! What I do is all about supporting women to free themselves of the constraints the world puts on them that leads to so much overwhelm, that stops them from being their true, beautiful selves. So I need to say something profound, right?! (Funny how that pressure sneaks up on you when you’re not looking…)And then I remembered the brilliant question I’ve been asked in the past: If you had a few seconds to say what you really wanted to say to the women you most wanted to hear it, what would it be? It’s this:You are worthy and deserving of the calm and joyful life you want. You are allowed to stand up for your needs, to use your voice, to make your choices, to state your opinion, to feel whatever you’re feeling. You deserve to be heard, to be cared for, to be supported, to be celebrated, to feel safe, to feel fulfilled, to feel utter joy. It's all valid and it all matters.Because you matter. You always have, you always will.Image description: Four blue slides with white text reading the same as the statements in the caption.

Excited, nervous. Energised, exhausted. Hopeful, f Excited, nervous.
Energised, exhausted.
Hopeful, fearful.
Trusting, doubting.
Up and down, back and forth.I’m buoyed by the sunshine and feeling like Spring is on its way.I’m hopeful about the news that people in their 40s (that’s me!) could be vaccinated from mid-April.I’m excited at the prospect of being able to see friends and family, sit in a cafe and have some freedom. And I’m nervous of what the relaxing of lockdown (whatever that might be here in Wales) could do to infection rates.I’m dreading the thought of a fourth lockdown.I’m heartbroken for those who are sick and who’ve lost loved ones to the virus.I’m wondering what life is going to look and feel like in two months, six months, a year’s time. How are you feeling about, well, all of it?! What will you miss when lockdown finally becomes a memory? How do you want your life to be different going forward compared to pre-pandemic?Image description: Blue text on white background reads: Excited, nervous. Energised, exhausted. Hopeful, fearful. Trusting, doubting. Up and down, back and forth.
There are a few new people following my posts now There are a few new people following my posts now and it’s a while since I’ve done an intro post so… here’s a bit about me! 💖 I help caring, quiet, big-hearted women to bring down their overwhelm so they can feel more calm, ease, peace and joy each day📚 When I was a child my dad said happiness for me is a book, chocolate and a glass of pop (the last two were rare treats) – swap the pop for tea or grown-up fizz and it still applies⛰ I live with my husband and little dog in the Brecon Beacons in Wales💪 Having grown up being told I was too quiet and too sensitive I’ve learned these are strengths not failings😍 I love a good rom-com and steer clear of gritty dramas (too stressful to watch) 💆‍♀️ As a mindset and positive psychology coach I work one to one with women, run The Calm Mind Club, give online courses, host the Pressing Pause podcast and work with organisations to support the mental wellbeing of people working in creative and caring professions👐 I can finger spell and I’m currently taking a British Sign Language course🧐 I’m a perimenopausal, empathetic introvert, INFJ, Obliger (Gretchen Rubin’s Four Tendencies) and an Enneagram 9, if you’re into that kind of thingNow, fancy telling me something about you?🗓 Also, I’m opening my diary for three women to coach one to one with me starting in March. If you’re interested in taking one of the three places have a read of the information on coaching with me through the link in my bio, and book a free call to talk about it.Image description: A shot of me smiling at the camera, wearing a black polo neck, holding a mug, in my study with a blue sofa and a wall of prints visible behind.
When life gives you lemons maybe you don’t have When life gives you lemons maybe you don’t have to instantly make lemonade.
Maybe you can just sit with the lemons for a while.
Maybe you can let yourself feel cross with the lemons and have a cry over them.
Maybe you can ask someone to help you carry the lemons.
Maybe you can look at how you’ve made lemonade in the past, reuse the ingredients that tasted good and see what might enhance the flavour this time. Thanks @biancabass for sparking lemon thoughts.Image description: Five blue slides with white text the same as the caption.
I’m fed up and I’m thankful. I, and you, can f I’m fed up and I’m thankful. I, and you, can feel both of those things at the same time, even if we think we should only feel the second one (and I say this as someone who’s been writing a daily gratitude journal for years).I’m fed up that I haven’t seen most of my family in nearly a year AND I’m thankful that today I get to be around other people in my shift at the food bank.I’m fed up that it’s pouring with rain yet again AND I’m thankful that I have views of fields and trees from my study window.I’m fed up that I’ve been indoors at home for months AND I’m thankful that my home is a safe place which ordinarily I get to choose to be in.I’m fed up of the existence of the Covid-19 virus AND I’m thankful that more and more people are getting vaccinated by the minute. You can have days where you feel conflicting emotions, where you feel pulled in two directions and both are allowed. You don’t have to dismiss or minimise one feeling with another.Image description: Blue text on white background reads: I’m fed up AND I’m thankful. You can feel both.
