There are a few new people following my posts now There are a few new people following my posts now and it’s a while since I’ve done an intro post so… here’s a bit about me! 💖 I help caring, quiet, big-hearted women to bring down their overwhelm so they can feel more calm, ease, peace and joy each day📚 When I was a child my dad said happiness for me is a book, chocolate and a glass of pop (the last two were rare treats) – swap the pop for tea or grown-up fizz and it still applies⛰ I live with my husband and little dog in the Brecon Beacons in Wales💪 Having grown up being told I was too quiet and too sensitive I’ve learned these are strengths not failings😍 I love a good rom-com and steer clear of gritty dramas (too stressful to watch) 💆‍♀️ As a mindset and positive psychology coach I work one to one with women, run The Calm Mind Club, give online courses, host the Pressing Pause podcast and work with organisations to support the mental wellbeing of people working in creative and caring professions👐 I can finger spell and I’m currently taking a British Sign Language course🧐 I’m a perimenopausal, empathetic introvert, INFJ, Obliger (Gretchen Rubin’s Four Tendencies) and an Enneagram 9, if you’re into that kind of thingNow, fancy telling me something about you?🗓 Also, I’m opening my diary for three women to coach one to one with me starting in March. If you’re interested in taking one of the three places have a read of the information on coaching with me through the link in my bio, and book a free call to talk about it.Image description: A shot of me smiling at the camera, wearing a black polo neck, holding a mug, in my study with a blue sofa and a wall of prints visible behind.
When life gives you lemons maybe you don’t have When life gives you lemons maybe you don’t have to instantly make lemonade.
Maybe you can just sit with the lemons for a while.
Maybe you can let yourself feel cross with the lemons and have a cry over them.
Maybe you can ask someone to help you carry the lemons.
Maybe you can look at how you’ve made lemonade in the past, reuse the ingredients that tasted good and see what might enhance the flavour this time. Thanks @biancabass for sparking lemon thoughts.Image description: Five blue slides with white text the same as the caption.
I’m fed up and I’m thankful. I, and you, can f I’m fed up and I’m thankful. I, and you, can feel both of those things at the same time, even if we think we should only feel the second one (and I say this as someone who’s been writing a daily gratitude journal for years).I’m fed up that I haven’t seen most of my family in nearly a year AND I’m thankful that today I get to be around other people in my shift at the food bank.I’m fed up that it’s pouring with rain yet again AND I’m thankful that I have views of fields and trees from my study window.I’m fed up that I’ve been indoors at home for months AND I’m thankful that my home is a safe place which ordinarily I get to choose to be in.I’m fed up of the existence of the Covid-19 virus AND I’m thankful that more and more people are getting vaccinated by the minute. You can have days where you feel conflicting emotions, where you feel pulled in two directions and both are allowed. You don’t have to dismiss or minimise one feeling with another.Image description: Blue text on white background reads: I’m fed up AND I’m thankful. You can feel both.
Without having a go and realising it's not right, Without having a go and realising it's not right, without being willing to see what isn't working or how we've gone off on a tangent, without allowing ourselves to mess up or get things wrong or change our minds, without the process we can't give ourselves the opportunity to find a path that could be better for us.If we lock ourselves into thinking that we've come so far we have to keep going or that it's too embarrassing to change course or that we should get things right first time or that it says something fundamentally bad about who we are as a person, we're trapping ourselves on a path that's not right for us.This is taken from the email I’m sending out to my subscribers later today. I write to my lovely readers, on a weekly-ish basis, thought-provoking letters to calm and soothe, to inspire and spark ideas. And they’re the first people with whom I share new offerings and special treats of course! You can have me and my letters pinging into your inbox by following the link in my bio. Plus you’ll get my free overcome overwhelm guide too.Image description: Two blue slides with white text the same as the caption.
I’m feeling pretty ready for the weekend, how ab I’m feeling pretty ready for the weekend, how about you? The highlight of my week was running my free workshop – 3 Steps to Start Feeling Calm and In Control – and getting emails and messages about how helpful it was, like this one in my DMs:"I really enjoyed the talk you gave and slept better that night than I have in a very long time. Really helpful. Almost like a mind rest. It helped me take back control."Yes! This is why I gave the workshop, this is why I create courses and the podcast and coach one to one with clients, this is why I do everything that I do – to put the power back in your hands so you can bring down your overwhelm, feel calm and in control, and live your life as you want to.So messages like that make me whoop! If you missed the workshop the recording is available for a couple more days, follow the link in my bio to get it.Now, as far as this weekend goes I think I’m going to refill my metaphorical cup with a lot of reading, some brownie baking followed by quite a lot of tea and brownie eating. How about you, how will you be filling your mind, body and emotional cups this weekend?Image description: The sun half disappearing behind a hill, blue sky and white clouds above, a green field below, a frame of bare branches in the foreground.

I was reminded recently of a story about a man pic I was reminded recently of a story about a man picking up starfish stranded on a beach after a storm and throwing them back into the water. A passerby points out there are thousands of starfish on the sand, how can he really make a difference? As he picks up another starfish and throws it back into the waves he turns to the passerby and says, "I made a difference to that one.”So often we feel like we can’t make a difference, we aren’t big/clever/popular/rich/famous enough to have any real impact. I know when the pandemic first hit and the UK went into lockdown one of my first thoughts was – everyone’s having a nightmare, everyone’s stress is through the roof, everyone’s overwhelmed, I must help EVERYONE! How to make yourself feel overwhelmed! Yes, I’d like to help everyone but that’s a big ask. Bringing it down to something that feels manageable, like one starfish instead of the thousands on the beach, that’s what you and I can do.So when you’re feeling like it’s all too much, there are so many people you need to reach, you need to help, how can you make a difference – remember the starfish story. One by one by one you make a difference. The story has been adapted and retold in a variety of ways. It was originally written as part of an essay 'The Star Thrower' by Loren Eiseley published in 1969.PS I’m running my Free Workshop – 3 Steps to Start Feeling Calm and In Control – on Wednesday. If you’d like to join me to get greater understanding of the overwhelm you’re feeling and for some practical actions you can take to bring it down, go to gabrielletreanor.com/start or follow the link in my bio.PPS This photo was taken a loooong time ago, can’t wait till I can take a trip to the coast again.Image description: An expanse of blue sky with wisps of white cloud above a sea with waves lapping on the beach.
