My husband, our beloved dog Georgie and I have bee My husband, our beloved dog Georgie and I have been a family of three for 13 years. Until Sunday.I had no idea how much I could love an animal until Georgie came into our lives in March 2009, or of how much better our lives would be because of her.Georgie is woven into every fibre of our home, our lives and our hearts. Which means we feel her absence everywhere. She gave us unquantifiable joy and I know, in time, her memory will do so too. But right now we're heartbroken.Image description: Several photos of our beloved cavalier king charles spaniel Georgie.
Life throws us curveballs ALL the time. Sometimes Life throws us curveballs ALL the time. Sometimes they’re on a global scale (hello, Covid), sometimes they’re unique to us but when you’re a human in the world the fact is there will be challenges we have to deal with.So when life is feeling overwhelming we need tools in our pocket and a strengthened resilience to bring down the stress and handle the curveballs that get thrown our way.Which is why I’m running a FREE online workshop for you called 3 Steps to Start Feeling Calm and In Control. The workshop is happening on Wednesday 4 May and you'll come away with doable actions that will make a difference to you right now. Please be reassured it is NOT one of those free webinar-type things where there's a lot of waffling and you’re left wondering what the point of that was!I'll be sharing concrete, practical actions that we'll do together so that you're crystal clear on how they apply to your life, and you can start feeling calmer and more in control straight away. It's happening at 8pm UK time on Wednesday 4 May. Last week I shared these words on the first live s Last week I shared these words on the first live session for The Calm & Joy Catalyst. Those joining me on Zoom typed this statement into the chat box to affirm this for themselves and it was powerful! What comes up when you tell yourself "I am worthy and deserving, just as I am right now, of feeling calm and joy every day"?Image description: Above statement as white text on a blue background.
To allow space for what's joyful, what feels right To allow space for what's joyful, what feels right, is to go against the conditioned thinking that we need to be productive, to be useful, achieving, contributing. To say you want joy AND to take action to feel more joy in life every day is to be rebellious.Because when we feel joyful, hopeful and optimistic, we aren't exhausting ourselves to be someone's else ideal. We aren't abandoning ourselves.Instead we're acting in line with our values. We're speaking up for ourselves and others, for what we believe in, what we care about. We're forging stronger connections, we're experiencing the fullness of life and we're being our whole selves. It's not about feeling joy to the exclusion of all else, all emotions are there to be felt and it's not possible (or desirable) to remain in an emotion permanently.Which means joy IS to be felt. Not pushed away for later, when we've done what we have to, when we've earned it, when we're allowed.✅ You can prioritise joy AND you can be responsible, meeting your commitments.✅ You can prioritise joy AND you can work hard, be productive and supportive.✅ You can prioritise joy AND you can be kind, caring and compassionate. In fact, infusing your life with joy makes being and doing everything listed above so much more possible! We think that joy comes second, it's a byproduct or a reward for when we've ticked off the to do list, met expectations, taken care of everyone else… Only then is it possible, only then are you allowed to feel joy. That's the insidious story we've been sold and fallen for. But it's not true. It's back to front, in fact.🌟 It's creating and claiming our own calm and joy that empowers us to make the difference we want.To be wholeheartedly compassionate. To act from a place of integrity. To be and do all that we want, we care about, we're passionate about.🤩 This is why I've created The Calm & Joy Catalyst, to infuse your life every single day with more calm and joy.Follow the link in my bio and if you want to ask me anything send me a DM. Registration closes this Saturday 9 April and we begin Monday 11 April.#calmcoach
One of the biggest obstacles when we want to creat One of the biggest obstacles when we want to create a new habit or just do something more regularly is the fear of missing a day and that meaning that we've failed to stick to the plan and so we're a failure too. You’re human, not a machine and so it's absolutely possible that you might not be completely consistent and you might miss a day or more. However, that’s not as important as you might think. What really matters is what you do next.Acknowledging that you missed a day and choosing to show up for yourself the next time is what’s important.Deciding to keep going, to try again, however many times you slip – that’s what matters. That’s your commitment to yourself, that’s what will see you moving forward and that’s what will build your self-trust.It's why I say up front on The Calm & Joy Catalyst info page that it's not about keeping a perfectly clean sheet, it's about showing up for yourself, creating space for calm and joy, even after you've missed a day.🌸 To find out more about The Calm & Joy Catalyst before the doors close on 9 April follow my bio link.Cross stitch kit from @cotton_clara#calmcoachImage description: My hand holding a cross stitch pennant that says Try Again, with a bookcase in the background.
I've reached episode 100 of the podcast! And I sta I've reached episode 100 of the podcast! And I start by explaining how I got a bit tangled up thinking about what to do for this milestone episode 🤦‍♀️And then I get on to what I really want to talk about which is that calm and joy may be two little words but there can be a lot of thinking and baggage tied up in them.Feeling calm and joy isn’t as simple as we’d like it to be because there are obstacles that trip us up and get in the way.In this episode I share five of the biggest obstacles obstructing your path and how to get past them (or blow them out of your way) so you can move forward towards more calm and joy.You can listen to episode 100 of Pressing Pause wherever you get your podcasts or through the link in my bio.🌟 ALSO, The Calm & Joy Catalyst Early Bird Bonus ends tomorrow, Thursday 31 March! To get a bundle of treats in the post (makes a change from junk mail) from me register for The Calm & Joy Catalyst before 10pm (UK time) on Thursday 31 March. My bio has the link you need…PS Can you spot the hubbie and pooch?#calmcoachImage description: Pic 1: A pebble beach with rocks and a blue sky above, just visible is a man and a little dog. Today can throw up all kinds of challenges dependi Today can throw up all kinds of challenges depending on your relationship with motherhood. So if you’re finding today difficult go gently on yourself, you’re allowed to feel what you’re feeling. And that goes for you celebrating Mother’s Day too, savour the joy you’re feeling. This is not a day that comparison, competition, shoulds or guilt* will help so let’s ditch them, yes?
*They don’t help any day.#calmcoachImage description: A bunch of bright purple crocuses flowering in a patch of grass.
It's funny how we can be so sure that once we've r It's funny how we can be so sure that once we've reached the next goal, once we have this thing, once we're in a different job, once we look a certain way… then we'll be happy. Then we'll feel calm and joyful and all will be right in our world. So we wait. And even if we reach one of our goals we move the goalposts to tell ourselves we'll be happier when we get to the next level. And so joy gets put off, sidelined, held in reserve. When in actuality we have the opportunity to feel joy right now. In every day.You don't have to wait until you've got a new car and the bathroom's clean and you have a cheerleader for a boss. It doesn't mean that you stop working towards your goals but it does mean that the journey towards them can be more enjoyable.I can help you to make joy part of your day, every day, with The Calm & Joy Catalyst which is open now to join. Check out all the info through the link in my bio.#calmcoachImage description: I'm wearing sunglasses, looking at the camera, taking a selfie with a field, hills and blue sky behind me.
