What do you do with a plot twist?

What do you do with a plot twist? “It’s not what happens to you, it’s how you react to it that matters,” so said Greek philosopher Epictetus. He has a point. While I like the idea of going out and happening to life, rather than waiting for it to happen to us, there are times… Read more about What do you do with a plot twist?

And it can really feel like that because on social media everyone’s having a marvellous time it SEEMS.Whatever feelings you’re having, whatever fight you’re fighting, please know you are not the only one feeling this way, there will be other people who are feeling the struggle, who are feeling the same difficult emotions. You are absolutely not alone, please remember that.
A Love Note from me to you: There is nothing you n A Love Note from me to you: There is nothing you need to do to be worthy of love, of kindness, of respect, of acceptance right now. You don’t need to be more successful or slimmer or louder or quieter or anything but who you already are. Because from the moment you were put on this planet you have been worthy of love, of kindness, of respect, of acceptance. You don’t have to earn it, you’re already worthy.
'Anyone can cuddle but only the Welsh can cwtch' – go into any gift shop in Wales and you'll find this printed on all kinds of things for you to buy!Whether you cwtch or cuddle, hugging has a real, beneficial effect on us as it releases oxytocin, known as the 'love hormone', reducing stress levels, blood pressure and heart rate. And you don't even need someone else to cuddle! Hugging yourself has the same comforting effect as being hugged.Which means any time you're feeling tense, the overwhelm is rising, wrap your arms around your torso and give yourself a long, soothing hug.If you feel silly do it where no-one can see you but do give it a try because you might be surprised at just how good it feels! There are lots of ideas for how you can put together your own toolkit to use when you're feeling frazzled in the free guide – Make Your Own Self Soothing Kit – on my website, follow the link in the bio to go to the Haven resource library and get yours.#calmiscontagious #takingcareofyou #lookingafterme #nationalhugday
This is taken from the email I'm sending out to re This is taken from the email I'm sending out to readers on Thursday where I'm sharing a powerful way I combat this not enoughness. If you'd like to get the email follow the link in my bio.The world tells us, in many ways, from many different directions, that we aren't enough. That we need to buy this thing, be like this person, do this thing, go to this place, look like this, act like this… and only then will we be enough.Only then will we feel like we're a whole and complete person. The message is you're not enough, whole or complete without ticking boxes laid out for you by other people, by society. When the truth is that you're enough right now. You were born a whole and complete person and you have been every day since.#findingcalm
I’ve shared this in previous years and I’m say I’ve shared this in previous years and I’m saying it again: Blue Monday is NOT a thing. The idea of there being a day that’s more depressing than any other in the year was invented to sell holidays. It’s a sales gimmick, that’s all.If you feel blue today, or any day, that’s okay. All your feelings are valid and we all feel sad, worried and angry as well as excited, relaxed and happy at different times.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Other people don’t get to dictate how you feel on any given day. If you feel blue today that’s okay, just don’t feel down because someone else told you to.

Have you set an intention this year to feel calmer Have you set an intention this year to feel calmer by getting up earlier to journal or do yoga or meditate or something else before your day gets properly going? If your aim is to begin your day feeling calmer, less stressed and rushed, then trying to squeeze something new in (especially if you don't manage to get up earlier because you're desperate for sleep) may not help, or even do the opposite.Instead, how about you start your day feeling calm without having to find a single extra minute in your morning? No setting the alarm earlier. No trying to squeeze in an extra practice when you're running around as it is.No feeling fed up and like a failure when you don't manage to do it.I have 5 ways you can start your day calm as you go about your morning without any need to find extra time to do them.Get my Free Guide – Start Your Day Calm – in my Haven library of free guides through the link in my bio.#findingcalm #calmiscontagiousImage description: A white woman, holding a pair of black framed glasses, is under white bedding with a pillow over her head.Pic: Unsplash

This is an excerpt from the Haven email I'm sendin This is an excerpt from the Haven email I'm sending out to readers on Thursday, if you'd like a copy follow the link in my bio.Across the end of last year and the start of this year I thought of a word for 2023 and it was pretty appealing. I liked the idea of it, of how I'd feel if I fulfilled it… oh. That's where I caught myself. This enticing word was conditional. It appealed to me because that's how I wanted to feel but I had attached expectations to achieving this word. And if I didn't feel like I fully embodied it by the end of 2023 I'd be disappointed with myself.Once I realised this I knew it wasn't the word for me. The chosen word is to encourage and support, not to be a benchmark for me to reach. It's not just about the word itself, it's about my understanding of it, my attitude towards it, what I'm looking for from it.Another word came to me, the foundation for everything else. The word is Nourish.
This is an old picture of Georgie in her festive j This is an old picture of Georgie in her festive jumper (I don't have one of Bailey in it yet) but with Christmas only a month away I couldn't resist it!🎄 How are you feeling about the rapidly approaching festive season? As someone who spent several years visiting four houses on Christmas Day (overly-responsible, perfectionist, people-pleaser, moi?!) I know just how overwhelming the Christmas period can be.🧐 Understanding what was behind my Christmas stress, identifying what would create more peace and joy for me at this time of year and taking action to make it happen, revolutionised my experience of the festive season (I know that sounds grandiose but, really, it did).🤗 The ripple effect is that everyone around me gets a much better version of me too, one that's more relaxed, appreciative, present and happier! So it isn't just me who benefits.🧑‍🎄 Which is why I have something to help you move from feeling frazzled, exhausted and put upon during the festive season, to having the calm, joyful Christmas you want.😳 If this festive season you want to ditch the stress, the striving to meet expectations, the being responsible for everyone's enjoyment, the people-pleasing, the guilt of wanting to do what you need… this is for you!😥 Because, really, can you bear to miss out on the peace, the fun and the joy for yet ANOTHER Christmas because you're trying to keep everyone else happy?🤩 The Calmer Christmas self-paced online course, which you can read or listen to on the private course podcast, will provide you with knowledge, guidance and actions to empower you to bring down your overwhelm, soothe your stressed nerves, feel calm and in control and, crucially, enjoy the festive season.🥳 Follow the link in my bio to find out all about Calmer Christmas and if you join before 30 Nov you'll get a bonus free gift too!
