Hi lovely listeners, Pressing Pause is back! It’s been a long break, for a variety of reasons.
Like a lot of people my bandwidth shrank as the pandemic went on. So when I hit the pause button on this Pressing Pause podcast back in January I knew I needed a break but I didn’t know how long for. Turned out, quite a while!
It’s so fitting that the last episode I posted was all about giving yourself permission to do what feels right for you, not what you think you should do or you see other people doing. So I gave myself a permission slip to take some things off my plate, including the podcast.
I talk a lot about overwhelm, about bringing down your stress so you can feel more calm, more peace and ease, and make more space for joy in your life. I’ve got to walk my talk so this is one of the ways I did it, by allowing myself to take some things off my to do list.
I love creating resources to support you and I know that this podcast, which is completely free to you with no adverts or sponsorship, is something that you find really helpful and I’m so glad and appreciative that you’re here listening. And while it feels good to be putting my time, energy and brain space into creating episodes that’s what I’ll do. And when it feels like a stretch too far, that’s when I take a break.
So, now that I’m back, what can you expect? Well, I’m switching things up a little. While the podcast was on pause I’ve been thinking about how I’d like to record conversations with the interesting, wise and downright brilliant women I encounter about how they find calm and joy in the midst of the challenges and curveballs that life throws all of us.
I drew up a list of who I’d like to speak with and what I’d like to talk about. And that’s as far as I got because recording a solo episode like this is very different to recording two people having a conversation, and the tech side of it all felt very daunting. I needed to learn how to record a conversation in a way that it can be edited and sound adjusted on the different tracks and the thought of that and the possibility of getting it wrong so the interview was unusable totally put me off, for ages!
I procrastinated because the perfectionist in me was too fearful of looking like an idiot to the person on the other side of the microphone, of messing up the recording, of not making a perfect interview podcast episode.
And then a chance meeting on social media led to me being interviewed on Yowah Radio, a wellbeing and happiness radio station, by the morning show presenter, Jo Thackwray. Long story short, that conversation has led me to hosting my own weekly show on Yowah Radio, starting on Sunday 19 September!
While thinking about regular features for the radio show I knew I wanted to include the kind of conversations I had been thinking of for this podcast. The double whammy of wanting to feature interviews on the radio show and the podcast was enough to get me going out of my fear and tackling the tech!
After a lot of trial and error and a steep learning curve I got it mostly figured out and the interviews I’ve done so far have gone pretty well!
So, going forward episodes will be me in conversation with a whole variety of women whom I respect and admire talking about calm and joy, what gets in the way and how we can create and feel more of both in your daily lives. I am loving having these conversations, they often go in directions I didn’t expect, I’m learning from each of them and although I could talk to them all for hours I’m keeping the episodes short to make sure they’re as easy for you to be able to listen to as possible.
I might add in the occasional solo episode if I fancy it but I don’t know, I give myself permission to see how it goes!
So the plan is, on Wednesdays I will post a new podcast episode and you’ll also be able to hear the conversation on The Calm & Joy radio show on Yowah Radio between 4 and 6 in the afternoon on Sundays, starting this Sunday 19 September. The radio station is yowahradio.co.uk or you can go to calmandjoy.com and you’ll find a link and all the info there.
Before I go something else I want to share with you is that I have created a library of free resources for you, all designed to help you overcome your overwhelm and feel more calm, peace, ease and joy in your daily life. You can choose a guide to making your own mental health first aid kit, a set of guided meditations or a guide to overcoming overwhelm for introverts, or all three if you like. Go to gabrielletreanor.com/free to get your freebies.
I’ve also been blogging so you can find out what else I’ve been up to over the summer at gabrielletreanor.com/blog.
So, that’s where I’m at, that’s what’s happening with this podcast, I hope you will tune in to hear the new episodes and of course you have the whole back catalogue to listen to any time you like.
If you enjoy this Pressing Pause podcast I would love it so much if you would share it and leave a review on iTunes. It makes a huge difference in how the podcast can be found so others can hear it too.
Okay then, I’ll be back soon with a new episode, the first of many conversations!
Thanks for listening, until next time, lovely people.
